Unconventional symbols get into the mind more than the brand’s superficial aesthetic. That’s why we’ve enjoyed the work of the French graphic artist called Morte which aims to go through the images of the past and analize the symbols linked to the occult beliefs. His universe is dark but not as mush as we can imagine. Irony and humor in the background.
MORTE. This is the pseudo of this suburbanite. He was born in the early 80’s around Paris and the skate, the BMX as well as a not very subtle mix of punk and hip hop music has been his most important influences. Having experimented different kinds of expression, J.R is focusing on a dark handwriting feature now. He works on detail and impact both. His mystic symbols are mostly mythologic and medieval references and he’s playing on different interpretations. Very interested in street art, he draws his inspiration from unusual stuffs like old illustrated encyclopedias.
«Since I’m ten, I’ve always worn a cap, so this first cooperation with Headict obviously sounds fun!» He created eight visuals to make embroider as you like.
Beyond the grave what are there ? Mental constructs-futures built on things we can’t see but only imagine. The religious codes and intuitions get together out there. But before than our thoughts hit the age-old marble above which we don’t know nothing, there are already signs. Superstition, the secret doors between the world of the living and the Underworld and the vanities of the human life across the Capsule.
The Capsule is about universal truth. So many different we are all, the passage of time fascinates us. Life and death are not like a passion for anyone. But that drives crazy our imagination. And the artist at the heart of our cooperation wouldn’t say otherwise.
