Rise to Stardom
Boston Celtics began their first season in 1946/1947 and it was a disaster having lost to the other teams because of their lack of experience. The Celtics made their NBA debut in 1949, which was also unsuccessful, and their heyday came in the 1960s thanks to their star linebacker, Bill Russell, with whom they broke NBA records several times before he retired in 1969. The team then had some ups and downs, but rose to the highest level to become Eastern Conference champion 21 times and NBA champion no less than 17 times. The TD Garden team is recognized as one of the greatest franchises by all basketball enthusiasts, and with good reason!
