Tealer is a very rootsy brand created by friends living in a flat, which took off from a basement in the Marais district of Paris. It's characterized by sharp designs designed to make people laugh and evoke a sometimes smoky lifestyle... In English, we call it weedwear.
At Headict, we love this label set up by a relaxed duo that mixes a lot of good vibes with innovative ideas and ultra-cool events. We tell you the story of its creators Alex and Jeff, their vision and our favourite cap designs from the up-and-coming brand without losing any of its cheekiness.
T-SHIRTS SOLD UNDER THE COAT AT THE EXIT OF THE METRO
The name Tealer, a contraction of Tee Shirt and Dealer, recalls the origins of the brand. In 2011, after realizing their dream by buying their first printing machine, Alex and Jeff sell their first productions hand to hand from the bar of one of their friends. Then the Parisians set up a new system: sales times at the metro exit are set on Twitter, and small resellers get a commission... It's reminiscent of the bar deal, except that it's more profitable and everyone is as happy as if they had been smoking.
ORGANIC GROWTH AND LOCAL MANUFACTURING
At Tealer, no banker, no loan, the growth was made little by little as the money came in. The first premises is a basement without a sign, but with a skateboard ramp and a direct manufacturing workshop. The customers were so impressed by the experience that they came back a few days later... with all their friends.
With word of mouth spreading, Tealer conquered the ground floor, then the first floor where memorable parties were organised. Building on its success, the brand differentiates itself by manufacturing and printing its T-shirts on site in the Marais. Today, some of the manufacturing is still done on site and some in Portugal to guarantee quality and sustainable production.
A QUIRKY SPIRIT THAT IS ALWAYS UP TO DATE
If Tealer seduced its first fans with its unabashed apology for cannabis, the brand is above all reactive to current events and well aware of its customers' tastes. This is normal, since it is made "by mates, for mates". In fact, Tealer also includes a label, Tealer Records, which began by producing friends and organises successful "Kush" parties.
Today, the brand has matured and offers less blatant prints. Wearing a Tealer cap is already a recognizable style for those who know. That's why Headict has selected this season sober sportswear models in basic colours such as navy blue or black and white. A little Tealer embroidery on the front means a lot to those who have followed the adventure of the Parisians who are as crazy as they are entrepreneurial.
